The Grand Final of Weight for Age racing in Australia, the time-honoured W.S. Cox Plate will be run this Saturday at Moonee Valley. This year we again have a strong international feel with twelve of the fourteen runners from overseas, now either based here or having had a lead-up run.

The “COVID” season 2020 all comes down to a Grand Final away from the MCG for the first time ever and will be held at the GABBA as a night final (another first). The Cats have worked hard to make the “final dance” with good finals wins over the Pies and Lions after their first game defeat by Port Adelaide. They look strong and committed to achieving a farewell premiership for Garry Ablett, and perhaps a first for Paddy Dangerfield who craves for that team achievement over any personal accolades he may have received.

Who will go through to the “big dance” (GF) next week from these two top quality preliminary final contests that we get to watch this weekend. It starts off on Friday night at the Adelaide Oval with ladder leaders Port off the back of a weeks spell taking on the Richmond Tigers. Port finished top of the home and away for a reason and Richmond returned to some good form last week whilst advancing to their 4th consecutive prelim final.
