A sell-out crowd at Royal Randwick

What a scintillating and emotional final day of The Championships it was with Winx delivering exactly what the energetic sell-out crowd at Royal Randwick came to see, a 33rd consecutive win and a 25th Group One win. The Chris Waller-trained superstar claimed her 3rd victory in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes which completed a hattrick of winning favourites in succession starting with Classique Legend winning the three year old sprint and as such ensuring that it was the punters not the layers who had the better time of it during the first half of the day.

Winx - the mighty mare

Whilst Winx has now headed off into the sunset to perform her motherly duties, horse racing fans have another up and coming wonder horse to follow in Verry Elleegant.  In winning the Australian Oaks on Saturday she completed a third win on the trot and has now won 6 out of her 11 starts.

With Chris Waller as her trainer, and after destroying her rivals on Saturday, the future looks very bright for the three-year-old filly. She is certainly one to look out for to have in future sweepstakes tickets.

The back end of the day proved harder for punters to find winners, as in races 8, 9 and 10 with respective odds of 11-1, 25-1 and 19-1, the benefits of playing Swopstakes become very apparent.

The winning ticket was bought at event 5 for a cost of just:
