Jockey & Trainers Guide

This guide is for players who might not be too familiar with who is in contention for the trainers’ and jockeys’ titles for the 2018/19 season; which finishes at the end of July 2019. We hope the following summary of a few of the Australian States will give you some insight, as well as help you, when making selections as to which tickets to buy, sell, swap or cash out when playing.

Victoria

In Victoria, the now disqualified Darren Weir still sits top of the pile with well over 200 winners, but with him not in the title race it looks like the Hayes, Hayes and Dabernig team are likely to claim the premiership as they currently sit with over 170 winners; some 50 clear of their nearest rivals of the Maher and Eustace. Robbie Griffiths and Mick Price both have over 70 winners to date, so no doubt will target 100 each for the season.

The top jockey in Victoria, Linda Meech currently sits top of the pile with over 110 winners, her lead over John Allen is currently 20 so there could yet be a late challenge laid down by the Irishman. Dean Yendall will be keen to secure 3rd spot, ahead of Damien Thornton and Jordan Childs who both are about 10 winners behind him.

Queensland

In Queensland things are a little closer at the top of the trainers’ premiership with Ben Currie having just over 130 winners ahead of his nearest rival Tony Gollan, who is about 20 or so behind.

In what is a tight battle at the top of the Queensland jockeys’ title Justin Stanley is only 3 ahead of Jeff Lloyd with both hopeful to break through the 100 winners barrier in the next few days. The battle for third place is as tight with three jockeys; Ryan Wiggins, Ryan Maloney and James Orman, all within 5 wins of each other.
In what has been another incredible season for him and his team, it will come as no surprise that Chris Waller sits at the top of the Metro Premiership with over 200 winners so far.  His nearest rival James Cummings has had a sensational season supporting Godolphin. And, with over 120 winners so far, will be keen to add many more to that tally even if the title is beyond him this year.

New South Wales

In the New South Wales trainers’ premiership, New Zealander Chris Waller sits clear at the top with nearly 200 winners.  Kris Lees and James Cummings both have over 100 winners to date but it does appear that this year’s title is beyond them.
Top of the pile in NSW sits Greg Ryan with 130 winners, with Andrew Gibbons and James McDonald both over the 100 mark, things could yet get close. Tommy Berry sits 4th with about 90 winners and will be keen to reach 100 in his first season back since a year out in Hong Kong.
