AFL Round 9 - Swopstakes Preview

After 8 rounds, Geelong sit top of the ladder with 7 wins, just ahead of Collingwood who has a record of 6 wins.  At the other end Carlton find themselves with only 1 win this season, narrowly behind the Sydney Swans and North Melbourne, both of whom have had a slow start to their respective seasons with only 2 wins each.

So what can we expect from round 9?

AFL Cut-Throat Game

Here at Swopstakes, the social sweepstake, our all-new AFL Cut-throat game has proved to be extremely popular.  Last week’s winner needed a rampant Richmond to land an ‘over 168.5’ and ‘Tigers by 15+’ double – and just like magic, landed both to score our $400 cash jackpot!

With every game featured in our AFL game, you have an extra reason to be sure you don’t miss out watching any matches in round 9, so that you are well placed to know when to buy, sell, cash-out, swop or keep going to maximise the chances of winning credits or the cash jackpot.

Friday & Saturday

Friday night’s game has the West Coast Eagles at home against Melbourne.  This is a game that the team from WA will see as a ‘must win’ if they are looking to secure a top 8 finish this season.

Saturday’s first game has in-form second-placed Collingwood playing St Kilda at the MCG in a match which the Pies will be confident of winning to cement the team’s position as likely contenders.

In what looks like being the game of the round, Saturday afternoon’s second match has the Brisbane Lions against the Adelaide Crows at the Gabba. The Lions, sitting 5th, have surprised plenty with their good early season form but with the Crows currently in 3rd spot on the ladder this could be a close encounter and if there is a line option on this game it might be worth trying to cover both outcomes.

The last of the afternoon games has the ‘ladder-topping’ Geelong Cats playing 10th placed Western Bulldogs. This season’s form suggests that Geelong should win this comfortably – keep an eye out for what markets are available on this game. Remember if your ticket succeeds it could be a good time to swop or perhaps cash out.

Saturday evening has two games, Essendon playing Freemantle at the Marvel Stadium, the Bombers will be favourites to win their 4th game of the season against the Dockers. In the other game there is a foot of the table clash as 17th placed North Melbourne plays the 16th placed Sydney Swans in Tasmania. The Swans have been slow starters in recent seasons and will be keen to ensure that they don’t fall too far off the top 8.

Sunday

With 6 games of the round completed, be sure to check how much your ticket(s) can be cashed out for, see where you and your mates are on the leader board and decide whether or not you might want to swop before Sunday’s games get underway.

Port Adelaide play the Gold Coast Suns at the Adelaide Oval in game 1 on Sunday – the home fans will be expecting to see their team win this game convincingly.  Keep an eye on your tickets at the end of this game as you could be just 2 matches away from landing the cash jackpot.

Next up sees Richmond play Hawthorn at the MCG, the Tigers will be confident of continuing their good form of late in which they have won 4 out of their last 5 games.

The final match of the round has the Giants against Carlton – most people will be expecting GWS to win this game by a decent margin but have a look at what markets and options are being lined up in this game. If you are still alive and in with a chance of landing the cash jackpot you certainly wont want to miss this match which gets underway at 4:40 AEST.
